Belfast Telegraph An Ulster mother last night said she was overwhelmed after an auction helped raise £14,000 for a vital operation to allow her little son to walk for the first time.
Seven-year-old Carlo Morelli, from Coleraine, has suffered from diplegia cerebral palsy - a debilitating disease that severely limits his mobility - for nearly all his life.
But this week, his worried parents put goods worth more then £14,000 under the hammer to allow them to take their son to Barcelona for specialist treatment.
David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerard, Cesc Fabregas and our own David Healy were among the superstar footballers who donated signed football shirts to the event.
