February Alrosa Auction Fetches $23 million

The last Alrosa international rough diamond auction of +10.8 carat diamonds closed last Tuesday, fetching $23 million. The Russian miner sold 159 out of 166 offered lots. 1,172 diamonds with a total weight 21,300 were up for auction, including 40 rough diamonds weighting more than 50 carats each.
The 20th International Auction, held in co-operation with the Russian Diamond Chamber, included for the first time rough diamonds from Alrosa-Nurba.
60 companies participated in the auction, including firms from Israel, Belgium, India, China, U.S., Byelorussia, as well as Russian firms.
The next +10.8 carat international auction will be held in March 2007.
