Norways Royal Palace On Ebay

Published March 10th, 2007

Norway’s Royal Palace was put up for sale on auction site eBay late on Wednesday night, with a starting bid of one dollar.
The last bid for the Oslo palace, seen at 1 am on Thursday morning, stood at $99,999,999 with an auction deadline of March 14.
The advertisement read, “Going Cheap! A young monarchy, 102 years old, for sale. The monarchy is presently residing in Norway, but may be moved to another country at any time. The people, king and queen are not included, but I am sure both they and their family will come along on the moving van.”
It was accompanied by a picture of the palace floodlit at night. Palace information adviser Sven Gjeruldsen was not aware of the auction, and would not comment on the matter.
The hoax sale was removed from the site later on Thursday morning.
