Letterkenny Corps shoulder belt auctioned for 1200 Euro

AN eighteenth century Letterkenny Corps shoulder belt plate was sold for 1,200 euro at an auction of historical artefacts in Dublin this week.
The 7cm X 4.8cm brass plate was sold at James Adam & Sons and Mealy’s Auctioneers Independence auction of more than 400 lots comprising previously unseen documents of the utmost historical importance charting Ireland’s struggle for independence.
The auction took place on Tuesday and included a number of significant lots of historical, political and national value.
Of interest to Donegal were the 18th Century Irish shoulder belt plate, Civil War and Republican Ephemera and an official Oglaigh na hEireann typed pass.
A spokesperson for Adams declined to comment on the identify of the new owners or whether or not they came from Donegal.
