$100,000 buy launches A380 seat charity auction
Published September 3rd, 2007
Two seats on the first commercial flight of the Airbus A380 - the world’s largest passenger plane - have been sold for $100,380 (£49,755).
The premium seats were auctioned on eBay by Singapore Airlines (SIA), which is operating the superjumbo flight.
A regular one-way first class seat would normally cost $3,391.
SIA is auctioning most of the seats on the 25 October flight from Singapore to Sydney, with the proceeds being split between a number of charities.
A Singapore organisation, two children’s hospitals in Sydney and international relief agency Medecins Sans Frontieres will be the beneficiaries.
