Published September 3rd, 2007

The Lithuanian Environmental Investment Fund will offer 552,000 EU Allowances (EUAs) for sale by online auction. The auction will take place on 10 September 2007.

On behalf of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Environmental Investment Fund is responsible for the sale of the EUAs, which can be used for compliance of the EU Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) in the trading period of 2005-2007. The auction will be managed by Vertis Environmental Finance and executed on the Climex Auction Platform.

In the first phase of the EU ETS, from 2005 to 2007, the Lithuanian Government allocated 12.3 million EUAs annually to Lithuanian installations participating in the EU ETS. According to the Lithuanian National Allocation Plan, 552,000 EUAs can now be auctioned. This quantity is presently offered for sale.

Members of any of the Climex Alliance Exchanges, who have provided full collateral for their bids, may submit valid bids. Further participants may join the auction and submit bids through brokers who are members of any of the Climex Alliance Exchanges.

The official announcement of the auction can be found on the website of the Lithuanian Environmental Investment Fund (www.laaif.lt). News and further details on the auction will be published on www.vertisfinance.com.
