Alrosa sells $18.5 mln in diamonds at Antwerp auction

Russia’s Yakutia- based diamond monopoly, sold $18.5 million in special-sized rough diamonds at an average price of more than $10,000 per carat at a first such international auction in Antwerp in October, the company said in a press release.

Alrosa’s subsidiary Arcos Belgium N.V. organized the auction.

The company sold all 20 lots offered, containing 45 diamonds weighing more than 1,800 carats in total. These included 15 diamonds weighing more than 50 carats. The biggest diamond was 181.5 carats.
