Kivells auctioneers, have acquired an option on land to the north of Holsworthy for a new livestock centre.

Partner Mark Bromell said: “Holsworthy is superbly situated to serve the needs of local livestock farmers and to act as a regional market for Devon and Cornwall.

“It also draws livestock from areas where, because they have less reliance on grass and livestock, the markets are smaller or less frequent.

“The success of Holsworthy as a centre for dairy cattle, finished beef and sheep is unparalleled in Devon and Cornwall.”

John van de Laarschot, chief executive of Torridge District Council, said: “We are delighted to be in discussion with Kivells to ensure that the livestock facility for the whole of Torridge and beyond is provided with new and modern facilities which make it easier to adhere to rules and regulations.
