Ronnie Barker Four Candles script being auctioned
Published December 20th, 2007
The original Four Candles script written by late comedian Ronnie Barker is due to be auctioned.
The classic sketch - in which Barker attempts to buy “fork handles” at a hardware store - became hugely popular after it appeared in The Two Ronnies.
The Two Ronnies ran for 98 episodes over 12 series between 1971 and 1987, attracting up to 18 million viewers.
Peter Spicer, from The Original Memorabilia Company, which is handling the auction, said: “The national interest in this script has been quite phenomenal. It seems that Fork Handles has touched an awful lot of us in some way.
“The market for important hand-written memorabilia continues to grow with more and more people recognising the pleasure and investment potential of owning something so completely unique and personal.”
Bids for the online auction close at 5pm.
