French pawnshop auctions off stock

The Paris Credit Municipal was set up in 1777 to offer the poor an alternative to high interest rates.

A rare Austrian postage stamp showing the face of the Dalai Lama is to be auctioned in the German city of Dusseldorf this week, the auctioneers said Tuesday.

Bulgaria to auction wireless spectrum licence

Bulgaria will auction a wireless mobile phone licence on July 29 that will allow the launch of a fourth wireless operator in Bulgaria, the telecoms regulator said on Tuesday.
Some 12 companies, including Turkish mobile operator Turkcell TCELL.IS, have expressed initial interest in acquiring the 20-year GSM licence.

eBay fined over counterfeit goods

eBay has been convicted by a French court of selling counterfeit goods and ordered to pay 20,000 euros in damages to French luxury group Hermes.

Swedish Desk Auction Sets Record

A Sweden auctioneers says it sold an 18th century rococo writing desk for a record-breaking 15.2 million kronor.
Auction manager Knut Knutson says it is the highest price ever fetched for a piece of furniture in Sweden.
The curved writing desk is adorned with Chinese lacquer panels and was made by craftsman Nils Dahlin in the 1770’s.
