Bulgarian Art Auction

GreenCat Gallery’s fourth art auction takes place at the Hilton Hotel in Sofia on June 14 at 6.30pm, with viewing up until a few hours before the start.
One hundred pieces will be on the block, including works by contemporary artists Spartak Yordanov, Adalbert Gans and Carlos Fuentes; modern artists like Pablo Picasso and Felicien Rops; and old Bulgarian masters like Vladimir “Maistora” Dimitrov, Yordan Geshev and Vassil Ivanov.
First editions and rare books up for auction range from a 1757 edition by Voltaire, a Sir Walter Scott from 1845, and The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas; old engravings of Shakespeare (The Felton Portrait); historic documents and manuscripts, like a law from the French Revolution (1791), and a hand-written act from 1685; and a map of Bulgaria from 1787 and a map of Carthage from 1590.
